Kitchen Remodeling in Norwell, MA, Designed and Built by One Team

4.5 from 55 Google reviews

Transitions is a family-owned design-build firm. Its own employees handle design, demolition, carpentry and installation, and founder Craig Ricciarelli prices every remodel himself before you sign.

The people who draw it are the people who build it

Transitions has handled kitchen remodeling in Norwell, MA and across the South Shore since 2006. Many firms call themselves design-build and then hand the job to subcontractors.

Here, design, material selection, project management, demolition, carpentry and installation are all done by Transitions employees.

The licensed trades, plumbing, electrical and tile, come from the same crews on every job, and they have worked with the firm for years. Craig Ricciarelli, the founder, still estimates each remodel himself before the contract.

Because one team owns the design and the build, the full scope is priced up front and change orders are rare and the budget holds.

Four ways to work with Transitions

Kitchen Remodeling

Floor plans, elevations and 3D renderings, then demolition, framing, plumbing, electrical, tile, cabinets and finish carpentry by the in-house team. A dedicated project manager handles permits and inspections, with daily cleanup and dust containment. The team has completed more than 800 kitchens.

Bathroom Remodeling

Primary baths, hall and family baths, powder rooms and new bathroom additions. The team redesigns from the studs out or refreshes the existing footprint, covering layout, shower and tub design, vanities, tile and stone, plumbing fixtures, lighting and mirrors. More than 400 bathrooms are complete.

First Floor Remodels

For homes remodeled piece by piece over the years, the whole main level is designed as one: kitchen, baths, mudroom, pantry and laundry, with bump-outs where needed. One designer and project manager stay with you from the first sketch to the final walkthrough.

Custom Cabinetry, Supplied or Installed

Working with your own contractor? Transitions can design your kitchen and deliver the cabinetry, countertops and hardware, or supply and install them. Lines include Mouser, Tedd Wood and Diamond. Local builders use the same service through the firm's Builder Partnership Program.

What sets this South Shore firm apart

01

The founder prices your job

Craig Ricciarelli estimates every remodel himself before you sign and stays involved from the first showroom visit to the final walkthrough. Reviewers note he is quick to answer a phone call.

02

Employees, not a rotating cast of subs

Design, project management, demolition, carpentry and installation are done by Transitions staff. The crew has worked together for over ten years, so the people who built your neighbor's kitchen build yours.

03

A line-item budget before the contract

You see a complete design, full material selections and a detailed line-item budget, with the timeline set, before you sign anything. Clients describe pricing that is clear, with no hidden costs.

A Norwell family business since 2006

Craig Ricciarelli has run his own businesses for nearly 40 years. He founded Transitions in 2006 and still oversees every project that comes through the door.

Linda Ricciarelli handles accounting, payroll and job costing, and Nick Ricciarelli came back to the family business from a career in tech to run operations. Designers John Donahue, a Braintree native designing kitchens since 1999, Karen King, with the firm since 2008, and Scituate native Veronica Dee Amelang guide selections, while project manager PJ Mottola runs the build. Clients return for second projects and refer friends.

I had my master bath and powder room remodeled in 2024. The whole process was very efficient. I first met with their design person, Karen. She helped me pick out all the tile, fixtures, and cabinets.

I was a complete rookie going into the building/design process and really needed someone to guide me and take me under their wing. Karen did that and more.

Before you plan a South Shore remodel

Is the first showroom visit really free?

Yes. Your first showroom visit and conversation cost nothing and carry no obligation, and the in-home measure and first design and budget meeting are free too. You pay a 5% design deposit only when you sign the design agreement, so you see a full estimate before any real commitment.

How far ahead should I start planning a kitchen?

Transitions recommends reaching out 2 to 3 months before your ideal start date. Design, material selection and ordering all take time, and cabinets and other materials can have long lead times. Starting early makes for a smoother schedule once construction begins.

Do I need an appointment to visit the Norwell showroom?

No. Walk-ins are welcome Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Booking ahead just makes sure a designer is free to give you full attention. After you send the online form, you can pick a showroom time right away.

Can I buy cabinets only and use my own contractor?

Yes. With the materials-only service, Transitions designs the kitchen, selects and orders cabinetry, countertops and hardware, inspects them and delivers to your home. You or your contractor install. A materials-and-installation option adds installation by the Transitions team without the full remodel.

Do you build additions with a kitchen or bath?

Smaller additions and bump-outs, yes, especially when they support a kitchen or bath layout already being remodeled. A Marshfield family moved its pantry and laundry into a new rear addition to bring light into the kitchen. Larger additions are taken case by case, usually as part of a bigger remodel.
